Digital video is online video content that can be downloaded and viewed from a variety of sources including PC, television, or compatible mobile device. Features and title selection may vary by service provider.

What’s an eAudiobook?

An eAudiobook is similar to a book on tape or CD—except that with an eAudiobook a computer, MP3 player, or other electronic device is required to play back the downloadable audio recording.

What’s an eBook?

An eBook, or electronic book, is an electronic copy of a book which can be read on the screen of your computer or hand held device. eBooks are available in many file formats. In order to view an eBook you must have the proper software for that file type.

Which mp3 players are compatible with Netlibrary/Recorded Books service?

There are lots of mp3 players available. See the list of tested devices below

Will I need to install any software on my computers to listen to audiobooks?

eAudiobooks from NetLibrary and Recorded Books can be downloaded or played on any desktop, or laptop supporting Windows Media Player (version 9 or above). Kentucky Libraries Unbound requires that computers or portable devices require have the free software available on the Kentucky Libraries Unbound website. • Adobe Reader for reading Adobe eBooks • Mobipocket Reader for reading Mobipocket eBooks • Overdrive Media Console 1.0 or higher for audiobooks • Overdrive Media Console 1.0 of higher for music • Overdrive Media Console 2.0 or higher for videos.

Can I download a digital title to an iPod or other unsupported devices?

Kentucky Libraries Unbound does not support iPods because they do not support the Digital Rights Management.

Can I download digital titles to public computers at my library?

No. Security on Daviess County Public Library computers will not allow downloads.

Do I need special software on my computer to download digital materials from the Kentucky Libraries Unbound?

Yes. Personal computers or portable devices require free software available on the Kentucky Libraries Unbound website. • Adobe Reader for reading Adobe eBooks • Mobipocket Reader for reading Mobipocket eBooks • Overdrive Media Console 1.0 or higher for audiobooks • Overdrive Media Console 1.0 of higher for music • Overdrive Media Console 2.0 or higher for videos.

How do I return a borrowed digital item?

You do not need to return a borrowed item. Once the lending period has elapsed, the title is automatically 'returned' to the library. Although the file(s) will remain on your machine, the file(s) will no longer be accessible.

How long does it take to download a digital item?

Download time depends on the file size and connection speed. You will see an estimate when you check-out.

Kentucky Libraries Unbound is consortium of Kentucky libraries offering digital titles to their customers. Sometimes it is refered to as Overdrive.

Can I burn a digital audiobook to a CD?

Some titles in Kentucky Libraries Unbound may be burned to CD. This will be noted on the item’s record.

Can I listen to or view digital item on portable devices?

Yes. Digital items are compatible with a wide range of portable listening devices, such as portable music players, portable media centers, Pocket PCs, and even select smartphone device. Please see http://www.overdrive.com/DeviceResourceCenter/ for a list of compatible devices.

Can I renew digital items from Kentucky Libraries Unbound?

Your KY Libraries Unbound digial items cannot be renewed, but you can check them out again if they are available when your checkout expires.

Do I need a Library card to access digital materials?

You may search and listen, read, and view a free preview of most digital materials. But, to download to your PC or supported portable device, you will need a Daviess County Public Library card in good standing.

How do I delete an Adobe eBook from my computer?

If you are using version 6: 1. Open Adobe Reader and go to File > My Bookshelf. 2. Locate the cover image of the eBook you wish to delete. 3. Click on the clock in the upper-right corner of the cover image. A pop-up box will display the eBook expiration date. 4. Click the 'Delete' button in the pop-up box. If you are using version 7: 1. Open Adobe Reader and go to File > Digital Editions > My Digital Editions. 2. Locate the cover image of the eBook you wish to delete. 3. Click on the clock in the upper-right corner of the cover image. A pop-up box will display the eBook expiration date. 4. Click the 'Delete' button in the pop-up box

How many eAudio titles can I have at one time?

You may have 10 titles checked out at any given time. Titles are checked out for 21 days, with no option to return before the license expires. Titles can be renewed once for an extra 21 days.

How many titles can I check-out simultaneously with Kentucky Libraries Unbound?

Ten (10). You may put up to twelve (12) titles in you’re eCart at the same time. Placing a title in your eCart is like placing it on temporary reserve; as long as the title is in your eCart, it will remain available for you to check-out for 30 minutes after you have placed it there.

May I return a digital item early?

Only Adobe® eBooks may be returned early. If you are using Adobe Reader 6: 1. Open Adobe Reader® and go to File > My Bookshelf. 2. Locate the cover image of the eBook you wish to return. Right-click on the image and choose the 'Return to Lender' option. The ‘Document Expiration’ dialog box is displayed. 3. In the 'Document Expiration' dialog box, click option 'Return to Lender'. *Note that clicking option 'OK' will simply close the dialog box without returning the book. The eBook will be returned from your account, and checked back into the library collection. If you are using Adobe Reader 7: 1. Open Adobe Reader® and go to File > Digital Editions > My Digital Editions. 2. Locate the cover image of the eBook you wish to return. Right-click on the image and choose the 'Return to Lender' option. The 'Document Expiration' dialog box is displayed. 3.
